I think in some cases a person could be learning English and might be taught formal language constructions and/or accidentally misuse them. Perhaps we should accept people’s hypercorrectness as we do nonstandard language. Just a thought.

Absolutely! I just love Thoughtco.com and wanted to share. This site is written specifically to help those learning English, and was just offering insights. As educators, I think we would both be PLEASED to see “hyper” correctness! I know I would!
